The umbrella walk

Has anyone else noticed that if someone (normally a chap) is walking along with a closed umbrella, they have to do the umbrella walk?

Its that walk where they flick the umbrella up and forward, it then makes contact with the ground and stays rooted there until it is slighly behind said chap, at which point the lift and flick happens again.

I like the umbrella walk, it makes me laugh. I think it was started by the suits in London but I can't be sure.

Its hard to walk with an umbrella and not do the walk.

The only other device that cuases this phenominon is a walking stick, where much the same principal is applied.
